Billy
Daniel, Director of Christian Education
Billy is a South Carolinian who has served in full-time
Christian ministry with the Episcopal Church for the past eight years in
North Carolina and Florida, serving as Director of Youth and Family
Ministries at The Church of the Good Shepherd, Raleigh, NC (2002-2005), and
as Director of Christian Formation at St. John's Church here in Tampa
(2006-2010). He is the husband to his forgiving wife, Amanda, and
father to his children, son Wyles (8) and daughter Aydah (6).
Billy received his Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies in 2000 from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN (where he met Amanda), and a Master of
Theological Studies (M.T.S.) in 2004 from the Duke University Divinity School in Durham, NC. He is currently finishing his
dissertation towards a Ph.D. in Theology with the University of Nottingham in England. Billy is also an aspirant for Holy Orders in
the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida.
When he is not being impractical with his family,
reading, writing, or teaching the occasional class, Billy enjoys playing
tennis, basketball, soccer, mountain biking (though there are only bumps in
Florida), skiing (it's been a while), building things, gardening, and reading
books he doesn't have to read. More than anything, Billy says he enjoys doing
those things that do not have to be done - the things most often associated
with the word “impractical,” for these are the truly godly things of life.
