Michael Hunter
Organist and Choirmaster

Michael is a native of Houston, Texas, and received his BA (in psychology) and MA (in music) from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. He was Director of Music at Fairfield Country Day School in Fairfield, CT, for seventeen years and served as organist and choirmaster of several churches in Connecticut before moving to Tampa in 1998. He has been organist and choirmaster of Saint Andrew’s since November 2005, having acted as interim organist for the preceding two years and assistant organist for four years before that.

Michael is a past dean of the Tampa chapter of the American Guild of Organists and the Region IV (Southeastern U.S.) chair for the Association of Anglican Musicians. When he is not engaged in musical activities, he operates his own business developing and hosting web sites on the internet. In his spare time he enjoys reading (science fiction and fantasy), attending wine tastings, and trying to keep up with the repotting demands of his 200+ orchid plants.
