The Wired Word
|
|
The Wired Word,
facilitated by the rector, examines a current event from the previous week
and analyzes it through the use of Biblical references. Come and see how
Scripture can help us make sense of what’s happening in the world today.

This class meets in the new library on the 3rd

Simon Peter: The Real “Rocky”
|
|
|
Facilitated
by Bill Yanson, this course will look at the life of Simon Peter. He
and his brother Andrew, our patron, were the first two disciples Jesus
called. Jesus lived in Simon‘s house at Capernaum for the duration of his
ministry, and Simon was clearly a man of great faith. Yet—despite the
famous nickname which our Lord gave him—Simon sometimes seems to have had
feet of clay.
What
does this intriguing man—who went from being a simple fisherman, to the
Roman Catholic Church‘s archetype for the papacy—have to teach us about
our own faith?

Celebration of Discipline
|
|
|
Learn
how the classic Christian Disciplines can open your heart to the transforming
grace of God. Join us for a Celebration of Discipline: The Path to
Spiritual Growth. This 13-week video series is based on Richard Foster's
acclaimed book, Celebration of Discipline, which has been read by
two million people since its publication in 1978. Eugene Petersen notes
that "Richard Foster has found the spiritual disciplines that the
modern world stored away and forgot, and has excitedly called us to
celebrate them. For they are, as he shows us, the instruments of joy, the
way into mature Christian spirituality and abundant life." Each week
we will listen as Richard talks about one of the dozen disciplines from
his book, then have our own discussion and Bible study about the
discipline. Each session is self-contained, so you need not worry if you
have to miss a session or two.
