Outreach and Inreach

Parish Life Committee

This committee of the Vestry seeks to nurture the spiritual and physical life of the parish community. We organize workshops and retreat days, receptions and ministry fairs, and other events. We also seek to develop our newcomer program and help solve transportation issues for many of our members unable to drive. We need volunteers and good ideas. Contact Dennis Fowler.

Helping Hands

This committee hosts receptions after funerals and takes food to parishioners who have had a baby, are sick, or have had a death in the family. Contact Pat Dickinson.

Youth Ministry

An active youth program for grades 6-12 is available at St. Andrew’s. Activities include Sunday evening gatherings that include spiritual growth, community building, and games and food. Special trips, fund raisers and outreach projects take place throughout the year. Contact Cynthia Malloy.

Worship Support

Acolytes

Acolytes serve at liturgies throughout the year, primarily at the 10:00 AM Sunday morning services. They play an important role in our liturgy, lighting candles, leading processions, and assisting the clergy. This ministry is open to children in fourth grade and older, teens, and adults. Contact Fred Waters.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is responsible for the care of the altar and the linens and vessels used, and the preparation of the altar for every worship service, including weddings and funerals that have communions. Contact Cate Hammer.

Chalice Bearers - Lay Eucharistic Ministers and Visitors

Some of these special ministers also volunteer to take communion to the home-bound or hospitalized. Contact Fr. Reese.

Choirs

St. Andrew’s has a rich musical heritage, and our music program offers a variety of opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. Visit the Music page for more information.

Greeters

These friendly faces greet the congregation as they arrive for services, making everyone feel welcome. They also try to spot the newcomers and make them feel at home. Greeters are needed at each of the 3 services. Contact Mark Phillips or Lori Taplow.

Lay Readers

Lay Readers are licensed by the Bishop to conduct services of Morning and Evening Prayer and other daily offices. Contact Fr. Reese.

Ushers

Ushers help with the greeting and seating of people at the Sunday services and also take up the collection and facilitate the communion reception process. Men and women and families are needed to help with this, and training is provided. Contact Gray Sanders or Frazier Carraway.

Fellowship

Sunday Coffee Hour Hosts

These special people take the time to purchase or make the wonderful refreshments that accompany the fellowship we enjoy on Sunday morning between the 9:30 and 11:30 services (or between the 8 and 10 services during the summer). Usually, two people volunteer to serve as hosts for a Sunday. If you would like to volunteer for a Sunday, please contact Kathy Jenkins.

Daughters of the King

The Daughters of the King work to promote the extension of Christ’s kingdom throughout the world through prayer, service and evangelism.
